Harmony of the Elements

This painting is what I would call "characterized romantic". Itâ??s not quite cartoony, yet pushing the proportions and color of reality a bit. As I painted it, I was imagining some romantic, enchanted couple hiding away on a magical, moonlit night. They are perhaps inside the tree house, strolling on the beach or swimming in the silvery water. You can see the marriage here of masculine and feminine forms and elements: fire and water, darkness and light and even the shapes of the bottle torches or drink glasses on the lanai. The tiny glowing votives on the steps welcome all to enter this magic.
